General Information for Regattas at the Sandy Run (Occaquan)

How can I check race results?
The schedule for the regatta can be found on the VASRA website the evening before the race.

Under the tab for Coaches Info > click on Heatsheets.

Race results will no longer be communicated via Twitter because it is no longer possible to see all of the tweets from VASRA in a chronological order. Instead, VASRA will use Mastodon this year. There are two options.'

Download the Mastodon app and subscribe to vasra.masto.host. You may have to select "Local" or "Local Server."
Then, follow VASRA Results (@results) and VASRA Start (@start). Parents who don’t want to download the app can use their phone’s web browser and go to https://www.vasra.org/mastodon-feed.

Directions: To reach Sandy Run, take I-95 south of the Beltway, exit at Lorton Road, turn right on Lorton, turn right on Furnace Road, right again on Ox Road (Route 123), left on Hampton Road, turn left on Van Thompson and follow it to the park entrance.

The address for Sandy Run Regional Park is 10450 Van Thompson Rd., Fairfax Station, VA 22039.

NOTE: The cost of the shuttle from off-site parking to Sandy Run is $15 for the round-trip. The cost of the “Finish Line Shuttle” that runs from Sandy Run Lot C to the Grandstand is $5 each way.

Important! THE SPEED LIMIT IN THE PARK IS 15 MPH.
This is strictly enforced by the park management and there are consequences to the team:

First Violation: Rowers and coaches in a vehicle detected exceeding the posted speed limit will be recorded and will miss that day of practice.
Second Violation: Rowers and coaches in a vehicle detected exceeding the posted speed limit will be recorded and will miss a week of practice and that week’s regatta.
Third Violation: Rowers and coaches in a vehicle detected exceeding the posted speed limit will be recorded and will not be permitted to row at the Sandy Run Regional Park Rowing facility for the rest of the regatta season or camps.

Pets are not allowed in the Park on Regatta days.
